Discover the latest updates on Ather Energy's 450X electric scooter, including price revisions, enhanced features, and the impact of the recent FAME-II subsidy reduction.
With the recent reduction in the FAME-II subsidy, electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers have begun announcing new prices for their offerings. Leading the charge is Bengaluru-based startup, Ather Energy, with a price increase for their flagship product, the Ather 450X.
Ather 450X: New Price Analysis
Despite Ather Energy absorbing a substantial portion of the subsidy cutback, the Ather 450X has seen a price increase of Rs 8,000. The electric scooter now retails at Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi, including FAME-II subsidy). Even more noteworthy is the price hike of the base 450X model, now retailing at Rs 1.28 lakh, marking a steep increase of Rs 30,000.
Sweetening the Deal: New Features and Add-Ons
In an effort to justify the increased pricing, Ather is now providing the base 450X model with access to the Grid fast-charging network, as well as a faster 700W charger worth Rs 20,000. The Ather Grid fast-charging network, one of the most extensive in India, boasts over a thousand stations pan-India. A range of new color options, along with features such as hill hold and a redesigned seat for increased comfort, have also been introduced recently to enhance the value proposition of the 450X.
Industry-wide Repercussions: What's Next for EVs?
The price revision of the Ather 450X comes in the wake of other electric vehicle offerings undergoing similar changes. Ola's S1 range and Matter's Aera e-bike have also seen price revisions recently. This trend is expected to continue as more manufacturers react to the subsidy reduction.
