Citroen Basalt: Your Questions Answered

Citroen is all set to launch its latest model, the Basalt, in India. The company has started manufacturing the coupe-SUV, with the production-ready version set to debut next month. The Basalt promises to be a lucrative option for anyone eyeing a new midsize or compact SUV, thanks to its unique coupe-like roofline. Here’s everything you need to know about it:

When is the Citroen Basalt launching?

The production of the Citroen Basalt coupe-SUV began in mid-June, and the global debut of the production-ready version is all set to be revealed on August 2, followed by a launch soon after.

Which SUVs will the Basalt rival?

The Citroen Basalt will have no direct rivals as it will be the first mass-market coupe-SUV in the country. However, the 4.3-metre long car will provide an alternative to midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and others. Additionally, the segment will see competition from the upcoming Tata Curvv in the future.

Will the Citroen Basalt be feature-packed?

Citroen has confirmed that the Basalt will come with the same dashboard as the C3 Aircross, including a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a digital instrument cluster. New feature additions over the SUV will include auto climate control with toggle switches, contoured rear headrests, and a larger front armrest with storage.

What engine options will the Basalt offer?

The Basalt will come with the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine as the C3 Aircross, producing 110hp and 205Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic.

How much will the Citroen Basalt cost?

Citroen will position the Basalt above the C3 Aircross in its line-up, making it slightly costlier than the current 7-seater SUV, which ranges from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 14.11 lakh. The price of the car is expected to start around Rs 11 lakh-12 lakh.

All prices are ex-showroom India.
