Kia will launch the new Carnival MPV in India by October this year, according to sources. Key Details of the New Kia Carnival
- New Carnival Expected to Continue with a Diesel Variant
- Could Offer 7-, 9-, and 11-Seater Configurations
- No Direct Rivals in the Similar Price Range
New Kia Carnival Pricing Expectations in India
On account of being a Completely Built Unit (CBU) import, the Kia Carnival will likely attract hefty import taxes. This means the starting price of the Carnival is anticipated to be around Rs 50 lakh, with some dealers speculating it could go up to Rs 60 lakh. While these prices might appear high, the Carnival will have no direct competitors in this segment, making it a unique offering in the market. It will serve as a more affordable option compared to luxury MPVs like the Toyota Vellfire, which commences at about Rs 1.22 crore, while the second-most expensive MPV, the Innova Hycross, tops out at Rs 30.98 lakh.
Engine Options for the New Kia Carnival in India
The international version of the Carnival offers three engine choices: a 3.5-litre V6 petrol, a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid, and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. It is likely that the Indian model will carry forward the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine from the previous generation, which produces 201hp.
Anticipated Features in the New Kia Carnival for India
With the facelift, the new Kia Carnival is expected to feature 12.3-inch displays and redesigned AC and audio controls, now conveniently located below the center screen. Additional features will include a rotary drive selector, front and rear dash cameras, a head-up display, a digital rear-view mirror, an updated digital key, and ambient lighting throughout the dashboard. The Carnival will offer multiple seating configurations, including 7-, 9-, and 11-seater layouts, although specific details on what will be available in India are yet to be confirmed.
New Kia Carnival Delivery Expectations
Given that the launch is slated for October, dealers are anticipating that deliveries could commence before the Diwali festival. Alongside the Carnival, Kia India is also preparing to introduce the EV9, a full-size electric SUV, later this year.
In conclusion, the new Kia Carnival is poised to create a niche for itself in the Indian market as a premium, yet competitively priced MPV without any direct rivals in its price segment.
