Suzuki Recall Affects Almost Four Lakh Scooters and Bikes in India
Suzuki has issued a massive recall affecting various models of its scooters and bikes in India. Announced on July 25th, 2024, this recall targets vehicles manufactured between April 30th, 2022, and December 3rd, 2022.
The models involved in this recall include the Suzuki Access 125, Burgman 125, and Avenis 125. The recall stems from a faulty high tension cord installed in the ignition coil. According to Suzuki, the issue is detailed as follows: "Since a high tension cord that did not meet the drawing requirements was installed to the ignition coil, cracks and breakages occurred due to repeated bending caused by engine oscillation during operation. This can lead to engine stall and starting failures. Moreover, if the cracked high tension cord is exposed to water, it can damage the vehicle speed sensor and throttle position sensor, causing further starting failures or speed display issues."
The recall affects a total of approximately 2,63,788 units of the Access, 52,578 units of the Avenis, and 72,025 units of the Burgman 125. Suzuki has classified this as a precautionary measure and is urging all affected owners to visit their nearest service center for a replacement.
In addition to this, Suzuki has also announced an unrelated recall for the V-STROM 800DE in India, affecting vehicles manufactured between May 5, 2023, and April 23rd, 2024. This international recall identifies an issue with a faulty rear tyre, where cracks or deformations may develop within the tyre tread. If not addressed, parts of the tyre tread could separate from the structure, impacting the vehicle's overall dynamics. Affected bikes will receive a new rear tyre installation.
For any Suzuki owner concerned about these recalls, visiting an authorized service center is highly recommended to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
