Discover everything you need to know about the Tata Curvv, including its powertrains, features, pricing, and how it stands against rivals in the midsize SUV segment.

Tata Curvv: Your Questions Answered About the Upcoming Coupe-SUV

Tata Motors is all set to launch the Tata Curvv in India next month. It will be one of the first mass-market coupe-SUVs here, serving as an alternative to midsize SUVs. Below are answers to common questions about the Tata Curvv.

What powertrains will be on offer with the Tata Curvv?

The Tata Curvv will be powered by a new 125hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder direct-injection turbo-petrol engine, available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. It will also feature the 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel and 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engines from the Nexon. Additionally, the coupe-SUV will be offered with an EV powertrain, utilizing Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev architecture. Although technical details are sparse, it is expected to offer a range of 450-500 km.

What features will the Tata Curvv get?

According to dealer sources, the Tata Curvv will come equipped with a four-spoke steering wheel inspired by the Harrier, alongside a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully-digital driver’s display. Additional features will include a segment-first powered tailgate with gesture function, a panoramic sunroof, reclining rear seats, ventilated front seats, and more. The top-spec variants will incorporate ADAS Level 2 safety technology.

Will the Tata Curvv be bigger than the Nexon?

Based on the Nexon, the Tata Curvv will be slightly larger than this compact SUV, measuring 313mm longer and having a 62mm longer wheelbase. This extra length is expected to provide improved legroom compared to the Nexon. However, the sloping roofline may result in reduced headroom for rear passengers. Importantly, the Curvv will also offer 118 litres of additional boot space over the Nexon, reaching a total of 382 litres.

Which cars, SUVs will the Tata Curvv rival?

Upon its launch, the Tata Curvv will have no direct competitors. However, it will serve as an alternative to midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. Soon after, it will face competition from the upcoming Citroen Basalt coupe-SUV. The Curvv EV is anticipated to compete against the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti's eVX.

How much will the Tata Curvv and Curvv EV cost?

The Tata Curvv EV is expected to launch first, likely on August 7, 2024, with a starting price of around Rs 20 lakh. This pricing positions it above the Nexon EV and below the forthcoming Harrier EV. The ICE variant is expected to be available soon after, with a starting price of Rs 10-11 lakh.
