In a remarkable turn of events, TVS Motor's Apache line-up has outsold the Raider 125 for the first time in a year, marking a significant achievement in the competitive Indian two-wheeler market.

TVS Apache Line-Up Outsells Raider 125

TVS Motor's Apache line-up has regained its lead in the domestic market after a year of trailing behind its smaller sibling, the Raider 125. According to the latest two-wheeler industry wholesale data, from April to June 2024, the Apache series sold 120,588 units, marking an 11% increase. This was enough to surpass the Raider 125, which recorded 118,197 units sold, an increase of 7% year-over-year.

In the first quarter of FY2024 (April to June 2023), the Apache outsold the Raider. However, it faced a sharp decline in the second quarter, with a 37% drop quarter-on-quarter, resulting in only 68,072 units sold. The Raider 125, on the other hand, surged to 128,028 units sold and maintained its lead in the third and fourth quarters, achieving over 120,000 units sold each quarter.

The Raider 125, being TVS Motor's first 125cc motorcycle, had an extraordinary performance in FY2024, emerging as the company's best-selling bike with 478,443 units sold, which was an impressive 100% increase year-over-year. In comparison, the Apache series sold 378,072 units, trailing behind by 100,341 units. The Raider ranked third in the TVS line-up, just behind the popular Jupiter scooter and XL moped, missing the second spot by a narrow margin of 3,360 units.

Furthermore, in April 2024, the Raider crossed the 8 lakh unit sales milestone in just 31 months since its launch in September 2021. This impressive sales trajectory symbolizes the growing popularity of both the Apache and Raider models in the fiercely competitive two-wheeler market.

The friendly competition between the Apache and the Raider 125 is likely to continue throughout this fiscal year. Cumulatively, the Apache series maintains a lead with 1,050,113 units sold, compared to Raider’s 912,770 units.

As the market evolves, both models will strive to capture even more of the consumer base, making this competition one to watch as sales figures for future quarters unfold.
